Hey im not good with computers and i got this virus (no idea from where) have tried step 1 2 and 4(four didnt work) and there is no difference… Any help?

Guru December 24th, 2023 at 11:19 pm

For the registry keys, the main thing is to remove the startup option. To do this click on

Start –> Run –> Type msconfig and press enter –> Click on the startup tab –> Unclick Spyware Guard 2023 from starting up.

Let me know how it goes =)

Sarah December 24th, 2023 at 11:43 pm

I took it out of startup with msconfig in Safe Mode(which is all i can use with out it freezing up) and still, when i loaded windows the blasted thing came up again!! I cant use regedit in normal mode cause it says it’s been disabled(probably another trait of this thing)
I also cant delete the files fast enough before it reappears! >_<”
And more ideas??

Guru December 24th, 2023 at 11:54 pm

The files may be reappearing due to a trojan. The trojan may be recreating the files when you remove them, which tends to be a zlob trojan. If you are stopping the process, removing the files, and then removing the startup process, that will be able to remove Spyware Guard temporary unless the virus has taken over your computer. Does a antivirus scan in safe mode come back with anything?

You can also try system restore if the virus is really new … unless the virus infected all the system restore files :(

I GOT SNOOKERED BY THIS THING…TOTALLY!!! I also found and downloaded STOPZILLA, which seems to have eradicated it. How can we KILL these guys, for perpectuating such a fraud??? I’ll sign anything!! Heck, I even downloaded the PAID version plus virusguard, for a cool $69.90, and they have NOT responded to my two demands for a refund!!! (The last-of-which I busted them for being a rogue virus spreader.) How can I ensure getting a refund??

please advise/over~jkatt

Guru December 25th, 2023 at 2:56 pm

Jkatt,

Since Spyware Guard is made by conartists, they will never give a refund. They may promise to, however, they are just lying. You can go to your credit card company and do a chargeback. However, if it is a debit card, it may be harder to do a chargeback. Do the chargeback quickly!

If it works out, please let me know so that I can recommend this to others.

Some people on the web are blaming the large number of laid off IT workers on viruses like this. Apparently, some IT experts are recommending that a nation cyber-security agency be created.

Merry Christmas,
Guru

I have this on my computer here and I can not get any removal utlity to work nor can I run an anti virus even in safe mode. It still does the redirect of websites in safe mode as well.

Guru December 29th, 2023 at 9:32 pm

Trez,

Popups in your browser tend to be because of browser helper objects. These can be removed by analyzing your system with a program called hijackthis. If you run a scan with the program and post you log here, I will be happy to help you remove the correct entry in your system. However, please use caution when removing entries since removing entries which the system needs can damage your computer.

Im using E-Trust anti-virus at the moment and it still cant find the virus. Im downloading STOPzilla as well second attempt as the first one said the a .CAB file was missing or damaged?

Are there any other anti-virus/mal-ware things i can download. PLEASE make sure its trusted as well. Cant tell now-a-days >.>

Chris December 29th, 2023 at 11:17 pm

Just found something out if you want something to ’slow down’ the virus.
When the IE pop up pop’s up, the one that looks like windows security center, rightmouse click it on your task bar (the thing down the bottem) and click block this pop-up. 90% of the annoyence is now gone :]

Anika December 30th, 2023 at 5:54 am

I think the creators have gotten smarter since this post. The trojan is somehow stopping the installer even in safe mode. I can’t get STOPzilla to work.

Trez December 30th, 2023 at 2:21 pm

I am having the same issue with stopzilla. Also when I attempt to open a site where I could download hijackthis it locks up the browser. Attempting to load the program from a jump drive stops the installation

Anika, that’s odd. For other antispyware programs that I’ve tried, they were stopped by Spyware Guard 2023. However, STOPzilla is working wonderfully, it’s not blocked by Spyware Guard 2023.

I’ve been working virus removal for about 2 years so I know how to work the programs, the dll’s, and the registry. I’ve been looking for a good manual fix for this for awhile now. I’ve followed every manual instruction I could find and none have worked. I also have scanned the drive externally and gotten rid of the other virus’s. Vundo seems to come with this and is also impossible to get rid of!

I believe the companies are in china and the US laws do not apply so if you paid them don’t expect it back

My dad just got suckered into purchasing Antivirus Trigger. I had him contact his credit card company who took care of this fraud.

the best way to get rid of it is bringing it to a repair shop

jimmeed January 7th, 2024 at 8:41 pm

I am using google chrome and able to get online to repair the computer, IE is not working however

Danielle January 8th, 2024 at 3:18 pm

I just got this bugger last night. One of my anti-spyware programs worked but would not detect any virus’s in the computer. My other anti-virus program AVG the virus would not even allow to run. I knew right away it was a virus and not a legit program cause i had not downloaded it. If someone finds a good way to remove this let me know, I dont mean stop it i want the little bugger off my comp period.. and i cant afford to take it into a computer repair place.

This damn virus is on my boyfriend’s family computer. I’ve been trying to get rid of it for 2 days now.

Indeed it does have it’s own “uninstall” option, but whenever I click on it, after a minute, it just beeps and nothing happens.

It’s driving me crazy!!!

It’s redirecting my searches from google [most of the time] and it pops up a totally new Mozilla FireFox browser.

Has anyone come upon anything new?

jkemp January 14th, 2024 at 9:42 pm

anyone use spywaredoctor?

Ron January 16th, 2024 at 8:33 pm

Try this it worked for me.

• Click on Start, click Run, and then type devmgmt.msc and click OK
• On the View menu click on Show hidden devices
• Browse to Non-Plug and Play Drivers and you should see something like TDSSserv.sys
• Highlight that driver and right click on it and select DISABLE
• Now RESTART your computer.
• Download a copy of Malwarebytes but DO NOT run it yet.
• Rename the downloaded installer file to any generic name such as your own name but keep the .EXE extension on the file and run it.
• Once the program is installed go to the UPDATE tab and try to update the program if you can.
• Then go to the SCANNER tab and run a Quick Scan and allow MBAM to fix anything found.

Ron, if you were a woman I would give you a kiss!! You saved my neck man. I stuffed around with this mother of ALL viruses for two days, I loaded and tried about twenty different damned AV tools - all to no avail - but your advice was PERFECT ! I loaded several different AV programs, this Russian virus just laughed at them all. People out there - This virus is HELL on earth, may the developers develop a virus themselves - HIV. AND - if you have this virus and you have a brain, follow Ron’s advice. It is spot on. Don’t be a tosser and reformat your drive. Just remember - you MUST rename the file, but keep the .exe extension name or it won’t work!!!

Ron,I owe you a beer mate - good on you. Thank God for forums such as these!!!
