If you are running vista you can also do a system recovery and just go back to the last update for windows… Yes you may lose some files but it is a simple way to get rid of this problem

One more thing they have added in a code to XP police that changes a file making you unable open your task manager so you may need to offer another alternative to getting rid of this virus… ty much for the guide though :D

To get your task manager back do the following:

Start.. Run.. (copy/paste the following below).. then click OK. Then do ctrl+alt+del and you should have your task manager back. Hope this helps!

REG add HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\System /v DisableTaskMgr /t REG_DWORD /d 0 /f

Thanks so much for this info.. almost cleared up. How do I get my home page and browsing privileged restored? My page is defaulting to about:security. If I try to navigate away, I get Reproted Insecure Browsing:Navigation Blocked.. and can’t move from this rubber room.

hey! i tryied all steps to get rid of xp police antivirus but when i came to the last step HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ SOFTWARE \ Microsoft \ Windows \ CurrentVersion \ Uninstall \ XPPoliceAntivirus. I could not find xp police in the folder whats wrong? does it mean that the virus is gone or somewere else? anybody who knows?
