Total XP Security is a fake antivirus program. Total XP Security generally infects systems running XP. Total XP Security hopes to trick the user into thinking that it is a real program by using various tactics such as a fake antivirus scan and pop ups. Total XP Security is fake and doesn’t work. I used spy bot to locate the registry files. purged them. the pop up stopped and the viruses blocking me from using microsoft programs stopped. I then searched for ave.exe and deleted it. my problem appears to be fixed.

How can they (microsoft) allow this to go on? The malware is labled as a Microsoft program, so of course I trusted it. I got rid of it for about 2 months, but then it came back….

Could not find AVE.EXE so I am stuck. Not sure where the files are located on my computer.
McAfee Virus Scan Enterprise did not find this. How can this be?
