Best Malware Protection (BestMalwareProtection) Virus Removal Guide

Virus Type: Rogue Security Application
Threat Level: 8 / 10

Best Malware Protection, also known as BestMalwareProtection, is a new fake antimalware program which was released in March 2023. However, this fake antimalware product is still being spread into April 2023. Antimalware products are used to remove malware (which generally includes viruses, spyware, and adware); however, since Best Malware Protection is a fake antimalware program, it will not remove any malware. Best Malware Protection claims to provide firewall and antivirus protection. Best Malware Protection comes from the same family of viruses such as Internet Security Essentials and Smart Security. These viruses have the same look; the only difference in the look is the name of the program. Best Malware Protection also comes from the same family as AntiMalware Tool. While Best Malware Protection and AntiMalware Tool have a different interface, it is important to see that both have similar features.

Best Malware Protection is generally installed without user permission through the use of a trojan horse, which is downloaded through the internet. The trojan horse is generally downloaded when visiting specific websites which exploit flaws generally in software to move a trojan onto the user’s computer. For example, this flaw could be in browser or any application used in the browser. Best Malware Protection will then set itself to start up each time the computer turns on. Some of the viruses which it claims to find include Trojan-PSW.VBS.Half and BAT.Looper. A screenshot of Best Malware Protection is provided below. The main executable file is generally a series of random characters. The main executable is also generally a hidden system file; therefore, the user will need to turn on the ability to see hidden files and folders and the ability to see protected system files.

Best Malware Protection Removal Tip - If Best Malware Protection is blocking the task manager, try to run task manager before Best Malware Protection starts. This may allow task manager to bypass Best Malware Protection. The fastest way to run task manager is to press CTRL+SHIFT+ESC.

Best Malware Protection will generally modify the internet connection settings to not allow the user to access the web. The settings will be modified so that the user can only visit specific websites. In order to fix the issue, go to your internet explorer browser and click on Tools, Internet Options, Connections tab, and LAN settings. Next, uncheck the box by “Use a proxy server for your LAN (These settings will not apply to dail-up or VPN connections).”

My wife got this virus via hotmail.
We have Kaspersky installed which in first instance did not react.
After she did get a warning we ran a system scan and Kaspersky did not find anything wrong.
After surfing on internet Kaspersky started warning her about two virusses and it took care of them.
She ran Kaspersky system scan again and then she had to restart the computer and after the restart she could not get on internet.
She then rebooted her computer again and she got internet back but the program was still on the computer and not able to remove.
Via logmein I did a Windows system recovery point for 2 days ago. After this the program was gone and I could not find any Registry keys or program files anymore.
Did this really cure the situation or can I expect more from this virus? (after another restart or so)
