Mac Protector is a fake disk security program which affects Macs. Macs generally have fewer viruses because there is less of an incentive to build a virus for mac computers since there are fewer macs compared to computers. The program will attempt to scare the user into purchasing the program by providing a fake scan (the program will ask for an activation key).
There are programs which can scan for these types of viruses. These programs include PC Tools iAntivirus and BitDefender Antivirus for Mac. Mac Protector can also be manually removed if necessary (free method).
