Another tip is to reboot your computer and tap the F8 key to get yourself into SAFE MODE. Choose the option to rollback to a previous restore point. Be sure to choose a restore point to when your computer worked normally. THIS SHOULD ALSO WORK……

The newest strains of this infection have gotten much smarter, disabling “safe mode” causing a BSOD if you try. Lock/Block all files that cause effects, replicate itself a day or two after it looks gone, damage sound drivers when it installs the “You are infected” voice warnings, inserts itself into the LSP stack (Windows Internet Protocol Stack). All can be removed with a good (free) “Rescue CD” (hint Kaspersky 8.xx Free Rescue CD) Repaired with free antispyware (hint SuperAntispyware Free version) and Registry cleaner/repair tool (hint Advanced System Care Free Version).. This bug is morphing every day. Good luck!

Also found that Task Manager disabled and unable to change Desktop Background because of changed Registry Enties in XP. Restore points prior to infection were no longer available.
