Safe Mode – Windows
Safe mode is used for diagnostics in Windows. Safe mode will run with less compenents and programs than in normal operation to make it easier for the user to diagnose and fix a specific issue.
It is recommended to use safe mode when removing specific fake antivirus programs because these applications will generally not be able to load in safe mode. To enter safe mode, restart the computer and press F8 multiple times before the Windows screen to bring up the boot options.
The top three options are the different modes for safe mode. They include:
Safe Mode – This will run safe mode for Windows without internet or command prompt
Safe Mode With Networking – This will run safe mode for Windows with internet and without command prompt. As long as the internet connection is functioning properly, the internet should work in safe mode.
Safe Mode With Command Prompt – This will run safe mode for Windows with command prompt and without internet
Generally, Safe Mode With Networking is recommended since it will allow the user to connect to the internet and update their antivirus software and then use it to remove the specific fake antivirus program. If the internet doesn’t work in safe mode, make sure to check that the internet connection is functioning properly and that the virus hasn’t tampered with the internet browser. Also, attempt to try different internet browsers.
